Operation: Story Bible - An Outreach to Our Veterans

The $10,000 check from the LCMS Foundation being presented to Mount Zion to aid Ch. Keogh in his outreach project for veterans – Operation: Story Bible. In the picture are (from r to l): Ch. Charles Keogh, Jason Jones (LCMS Foundation), Mike Kozimko (MZLC Board Secretary), Brant Dennis (MZLC Board Chairman). (Nov. 30, 2014).

Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Castle Rock, Colorado, is working with Chaplain Charles Keogh (Lead Chaplain - Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center) in fulfilling his grant from the Wiebe Mission Advancement Fund - LCMS Foundations. The $10,000 grant was for the purchase of 800 copies of Concordia Publishing House’s The Story Bible (a 2012 Christian Book Award Finalist). The check for the grant covering the purchase of the bibles was presented to Mount Zion on November 30, 2014 by Jason Jones, LCMS Foundation.

Ch. Keogh, who is currently serving as Vacancy Pastor at Mount Zion, had submitted the grant request to the Wiebe Mission Advancement Fund in 2014. In the grant, Ch. Keogh stated, “The focus will be on the population of military veterans (both in-patients and out-patients) who have young children or grandchildren.” The first 400 bibles were received by Ch. Keogh at the Veterans Affairs hospital. Chaplain Keogh will distribute The Story Bible to veterans at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Any veteran can contact Ch. Keogh’s office at the VA Medical Center to obtain The Story Bible. Mount Zion will also have The Story Bible at the church for distribution to veterans before and after church services starting before Christmas. In addition, churches can contact the Ch. Keogh [(303) 399-8020 x3463] at the VA to arrange for copies. Veterans can contact the church office at 303-688-9550 to arrange to pick up a copy.
